Gold‚ silver prices dip

Kathmandu-Nepal (Feb 22)   Price of gold and silver tumbled by Rs 500 and Rs 20 per tola, respectively, over the week — from February 15 to 20. The market opened on Sunday with gold priced at Rs 52,500 per tola. Its price increased by Rs 200 per tola to Rs 52,700 per tola on Monday and remained unchanged on Tuesday. Bullion price plunged by Rs 700 per tola on Wednesday and was traded at 52,000 per tola.

The domestic market witnessed impact of international bullion market as gold price fell on Tuesday due to eurozone finance minister’s talks regarding Greece’s rescue programme. The price of yellow metal edged up by Rs 200 per tola on Thursday, with gold priced at Rs 52,200 per tola. It again slumped by Rs 200 per tola on Friday to settle the week’s trading at 52,000 per tola.

Likewise, price of silver also went down by Rs 20 per tola. Silver was traded at Rs 720 per tola on Sunday. The price of white metal edged up by five rupees on Monday and remained unchanged on Tuesday.Silver price plunged by Rs 25 on Wednesday to be fixed at Rs 700 per tola. Its price, however, rose by five rupees per tola on Thursday. Silver price dipped by five rupees on Friday to close the week’s trading at Rs 700 per tola.
